Trump Declares Himself King Over Manhattan Toll Controversy

The White House mentioned a message from Trump on his social media platform Truth Social, where the former president referred to himself as a king. In the image, Trump appears smiling with Manhattan in the background and some of its most iconic buildings. New York Governor Kathy Hochul responded to Trump's claim, noting that the United States is not governed by a king, emphasizing that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has initiated legal proceedings to maintain the toll that Trump intends to eliminate upon returning to the White House.

The Republican former president has expressed his intention to remove the toll implemented to reduce pollution in Manhattan and raise funds for the MTA. Sean Duffy, U.S. Secretary of Transportation, supported Trump's decision to eliminate this toll, arguing that it affects the working class and small business owners. Despite opposition from the Trump administration, MTA statistics showed a 9% reduction in traffic during the workweek in the toll area compared to the previous year.

The White House published a fake cover of Time magazine where Trump is compared to a king, celebrating the suspension of the controversial $9 toll in Manhattan. The former president's administration blocked this measure that had just been implemented in New York. "Tolls are dead. Manhattan and all of New York are saved," stated the White House, highlighting Trump's stance on this issue.
